Spiritual Direction is a time for you to explore your spiritual life in an open and contemplative framework.
What happens in Spiritual Direction?
We begin with a short spiritual practice of your choice. Some examples include silence, vocal prayer, drawing an art card, or taking 3 deep breaths together.
Following this you will share what is currently speaking to your heart. You can talk about anything that has life for you at this moment.
I will offer reflections or open ended questions to help you explore how these experiences connect with your spiritual life and relationship with God.
We end our time with another short spiritual practice of your choice.

Spiritual Direction is for anyone interested in deepening their spiritual life. You can be of any faith or nonfaith background. We will use your understanding of spirituality and the Divine as the basis for our work.

Yes! Spiritual Direction is a great opportunity for you to deepen your spiritual life. Your spiritual journey is at the center of spiritual direction. We will use your understanding of and language for the Divine.

No. Spiritual direction is not therapy. For both therapy and spiritual direction, you bring what is on your heart, but in spiritual direction, we focus on the spiritual implications and aspects of what you bring to our sessions. Even though spiritual direction is not therapy, some people find it therapeutic. As a spiritual director, I am not able to diagnose or treat any form of mental illness. Some people who are struggling with their mental health find it very helpful to work with both a spiritual director and a therapist.

YES!! I am a member of the LGBTQIA community, and am currently married to my wonderful wife, Mary. The church and religion can be a violent, damaging, and unsafe place for LGBTQIA folks. My hope is to create a space where you can honestly and bravely explore the various aspects of your spiritual life.
